What happens when a Colombian designer recognized in Los Angeles, a global surfaces brand, an appliance house with more than three centuries of history and a Colombian factory work together in a single space? That was the question Letto set out to answer at its latest appearance at Feria de Diseño Medellín. And the answer holds long after the booth came down.
MEDELLÍN, Colombia — Rather than simply showing furniture, Letto set out to prove that Colombian manufacturing can sit at the same table as the best in the world. To do so, it brought together three partners who, each from their own specialty, elevate the final result.
For decades, Asia was the main manufacturing hub for furniture destined for international projects. The pandemic, logistics disruptions and geopolitical tensions forced many companies to rethink their supply chains. Today proximity matters, response times matter, and the ability to visit a factory, develop a prototype and refine it quickly matters. That is where nearshoring comes in, and that is where Colombia comes in: strategically positioned facing the Caribbean, Latin America and North America. This collaboration is concrete proof that design, engineering, technology and quality made in Colombia can compete internationally.
Letto did not always manufacture kitchens or architectural millwork. When COVID arrived, its markets came to a halt and the factory scaled back its operations. While many industries stood still, construction kept moving, and Letto redirected its industrial know-how toward new categories: kitchens, fixed millwork, furniture and FF&E solutions for residential and hospitality projects. That journey has opened the door to international companies and projects, including opportunities with Home Depot in the United States and projects linked to hospitality brands such as Ritz-Carlton. And it is the same journey that today allows Letto to collaborate as an equal with brands like Cosentino and Gaggenau.
Complete Projects, Not Just Furniture
The collaboration in Medellín sums up how Letto understands its work: the future is not just about making furniture, but about bringing together design, engineering, manufacturing, sourcing, logistics and installation to support projects from start to finish. A company that stays true to its Colombian roots while thinking globally.
